I bought a brownstone shell in Harlem, NYC

I bought a brownstone shell in Harlem, NYC. It’s really narrow (12.5′ x 53′) and I already have an idea of how I’d like to re-do it. It’s almost empty inside. The building is a gut-rehab that has to be completely re-built from the inside out. It’s in a landmarked zone so the exterior has to be restored to its original design, but I have full reign with the interior and rear. I don’t have $$ to do the re-hab now, but I’d like to have an architect do some drawings based on my ideas, just so that I can see my ideas fleshed out in a floorplan and in elevation. Can you recommend someone in NY or East Coast or even take on this project? I have photos and dimensions and plans done by a developer (I don’t like the developer’s plans). My budget is very small — because I’m only trying to see my own ideas fleshed out and enhanced — because I won’t be able to afford to do the re-hab for another couple of years.

I am a NYS Licensed Architect and designer that has projects in Manhattan. I have designed town houses for Rubin Blades, Apartments for Mary McFadden, as well as countless pied-à-terre penthouses, as well as basic interior design to make the most out of scarce NYC square footage. I have access to various contractors, expeditors as well as having over 18 years of NYC design and contruction experience. My drawings are creative, contain all of the information needed as well as being developed well enough to pass the muster of Co-op and Condo Board Architect scrutiny.

I am one of the few Architects that has actually “swung a hammer” as a house framer and preservationist in the 80’s as well as graduating from Pratt – a design oriented school. I bring a wealth of knowledge, experience as well as design capability that competitors can’t match at my price point. I too agree that good design should be affordable, and i typically do the interior design for free as per my proposals. I offer fixed pricing, flexible payment options and timely designs that suit YOUR LIFESTYLE.

I’m a recent graduate(University of Kentucky B. Arch ‘08). I’ve worked before on renovations in the US with a small firm.

If you can provide the photos, plans, and dimensions like you say and already have an idea of what you’d like to do, I can produce a 3-D PDF model for you. It would be viewable in Acrobat reader. Plans, sections, and elevations would come with that as well.

I’d be more than happy to make a free proposal. Hopefully I can help you visualize the space you are thinking of in both 2 and 3 dimensions and get you on your way to realizing this.

Hope to hear from you soon
